Exercise and Disability
One in four Americans are living with a disability, and, in persons 75 and older, roughly half live with a disability. Exercise is beneficial for everyone, but especially for the disabled. Regular exercise helps prevent disability and/or manage many health problems and concerns, including:
* Stroke
* High blood pressure
* Type 2 diabetes
* Depression
* Anxiety
* Many types of cancer
* Arthritis
* Falls
It can also help improve cognitive function and helps lower the risk of death from all causes. Exercise improves mood, boosts energy, promotes sleep. Exercise is beneficial in so many ways and yet only half the population engages in regular exercise. That’s because it’s difficult for some people to get started. We aim to get you started and motivate you to continue to exercise. Jerome Bruner, Harvard psychologist said, “You’re more likely to act yourself into feeling, than feeling yourself into action.” In other words, don’t wait until you feel like exercising, start DOING it. The videos here will be informative and fun and may greatly change your life. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share with you the successful techniques I’ve used over the years.
